I can't believe it's already been over 2 months since little Rexy joined our family! I have a LOT of catching up to do! Starting with his special delivery!

Morning of! 39 weeks and ready to pop!
I was scheduled to be induced Monday the 23rd at 8am-- so of course I got a call at 7am telling me the labor and delivery rooms were 'full' and to call back at noon. Ugh! Well I had been contracting pretty regularly for the last 24+ hours and was still contracting pretty regularly, and was just SO ready to have the baby! I decided to just go in instead of calling, and figured the worst they could do was send me home. But it was better than waiting around all day!

Luckily because I was already on the schedule they said they wouldn't send me home and we got all checked in around noon. The nurse checked me and the baby was still up SO high and I was still only at a one! So lame!

My IV went fine, and epidural was fine too! So glad to have them over with. Then all the sudden this man comes in trying to draw some blood out of no where! I was totally not expecting it and it nearly sent me over the edge! (I'm terrified of needles... Haha...) I know it was so lame because I had already had two needle pokes, but I just wasn't mentally prepared and this guy was trying to get in and out super fast! So annoying. It went fine after I was able to calm down enough to give him my arm, but was probably the most dramatic part of the day! Which I guess is a good thing considering!

Labor was fine, just long and slow! My epidural this time was SO heavy! If I laid back at all it felt like it was making my whole body numb and everything was felt so heavy. I was tired and mainly just laid there with my eyes closed for about 8 hours.... super exciting! My mom decided not to come until after, so I was lucky enough to have my two best friends, Jenny and Jaymie, there! They came by about 6 o'clock that night and it was so nice to just relax and listen to them all chat and have fun! It totally kept my mind off of things. I was also pretty nauseous the whole time and threw up a couple times for the first time out of all of my deliveries. Another reason it was so nice to have friends there- cute Jenny held my hair and my super awesome throw up bowl, while Tyler tried not to throw up in the corner. Bless him. Dave, my Dr, was going to come in after work to break my water, but when he came back the baby was still up too high for him to break my water, so back to waiting we went! We watched the Dancing with the Stars Final as I dozed in and out and hoped I was finally dilating! Jenny and Jaymie ran home to check on their kids, and mine, and tuck everyone into bed. Lucy and Clara slept over at Jenny's that night, and Jaymie was just waiting for baby Rex to be born before her family left for Denver for Thanksgiving!
Things finally started progressing and at about 1:30 I was feeling like I could push and was at a 10! We maybe had a little dance party to celebrate while we waited for Dave to arrive!

It's a good thing Dave knows us well, because he hadn't been there for 2 minutes and somehow Jenny had convinced him to participate in our pregnant lady dance off before delivering baby Rex.... It was so hilarious.
This video was taken at 1:38am.....
And this one at 1:51! He came so fast! It was such a smooth and easy delivery. Jenny and Jaymie were seriously giddy and so exciting which kept everything so light and exciting! Tyler had eaten a granola bar not to much earlier, so his light-headedness was at a minimum. Dave was just sitting on edge of the bed and it was like friends sitting around playing cards.... except I was pushing a baby out. Hahaha! I think the first few pushes I was a little timid, but once I remembered what I was doing it was like 3 big pushes and he was out!
And the best/most hilarious part of the whole night. Jenny's dream of finally seeing a live delivery came true, and her and Jaymie got to cut the cord! I laugh so hard every time I see these pictures. They look like this happy couple and I'm like the surrogate mother or something.... Haha!
Jenny filmed the delivery, so that was the first one I've ever seen too! I didn't see any of my other ones, so it was a good thing to see once! ;-) Now if I could get Clara to stop asking me to watch the video... Haha! Jaymie took pictures, and it was so nice to have an extra set of hands there to take good pictures while Tyler was still hiding in the corner!
Once the coast was clear, Dad finally made his appearance. I still can't believe we have a son! He was perfect in every way and looks so much like little Lucy! He also has the straight line creases in his hands, like most down syndrome babies do. My older brother has them as well, so he was tested as a newborn, but these days our pediatrician said it's just a very unique defining feature! He definitely looks more like a Brock baby.
Oh Labor. You always make me look so glamorous! But I sure am happy here!
Ahhh, he's so so so so so cute! So in Love!!
Luckily I had no tears or anything, so recovery went so well this time around. I think I was the most sore from sitting on my butt/tailbone for 12 hours in labor! Haha! But seriously.
Tyler went with him to the nursery to get all cleaned up and checked out, and Jaymie and Jenny went with to take some pics. So in love with my little man!
Perfect in every way.
He finally made it back to me! He nurses great and loved getting to know his 'granny' Jaymie and aunt Jenny! I guess a nurse asked Jaymie in the nursery if she was the baby's grandma.... and after Jaymie then pretended to stab herself in the heart indicating that she was NOT in fact the baby's grandma, the nurse just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Well, you never know!" I guess that's what 3am will do to you! Haha!

We finally got all settled into our room about 4am. Rex ate great, so I sent Tyler home, Rex to the nursery and got maybe 2 hours of sleep. Hooray!
We couldn't be more grateful for our perfect little guy! We love you baby Rex!
