an almost lake powell trip...

Image
SO. We have been looking forward to going to lake powell in october, well... since pretty much January. As soon as both Amy and I were pregnant and due in the spring, and ben and carrie were moving, our annual June Lake Powell trip got made an 'adult only' trip. Luckily Tyler, Clara, and I made it for a few days of that trip, but we have been dreaming about lake powell all summer! the crosland fam decided to make this a smaller trip, so it was just going to be our little family, bonnie, jeff and jessi, amy and luke and their kids, and one of their friends' families. Anyway-- to make a long story short-- the friend's that were supposed to come with us ended up bailing out friday morning around 10am-- we were supposed to leave at noon. we tried to find someone else to go (we needed another man to help with the houseboat, because tyler was leaving the trip early for work) but we couldn't find anyone that last minute. no one could get work off without that much...

clara mae is now 5 months old. she smiles ALL the time, and LOVES her bumbo. not such a fan of her jumper yet.... not loving her oatmeal so much either, my pediatrican now recommends starting with the meats instead of the veggies to get more protein.. Yuck!  She's not acting very interested in her oatmeal at all, so I think I'm going to give it a couple more weeks before I start giving her fruits and veggies-- and maybe meat. but probably not, because that's just gross. she is now rolling from her back to her tummy and loves just looking at someone. mainly lucy- lucy likes to sing to clara, play with clara, etc... lucy gets rather mad if clara isn't sitting in her bumbo in 'lucy's room' (really both of their room) so that she can play with clara-- even if clara is crying to eat, lucy insists she stay there so they can play together and so that she can feed clara 'dinner'. they will seriously keep each other entertained for hours ...

i did it!  4 hours and 34 minutes.... i am so so glad it's over, and that I did it! here's my dad and I at the finish- he kicked my butt of course, 3:12 was his time. Not bad for 50! so the race went really well, and I did as well as I could have hoped! I have been training since the beginning of June, so only 4 months. After the half I did in August I hurt my IT band, so I took 3 weeks off of training to let that heal up the best I could! I am a little competitive, so I know that if I trained longer, did more cross training, etc.. that I could totally run it faster, but for my first one, I did the best I could! I ended up running the entire race with my dad's good friend's little sister, and her best friend--- Deon, and Ashley. I think I really would have been like way slower if I hadn't been running with them the whole race. I really need to get some more running buddies, because it's so much easier to run with someone!  Here's ashl...

so sorry for picture overload... but Taylor Swift was seriously AMAZING!! Greatest concert I have ever been to, by Far!  My dad got us amazing seats--12th row, and I am still SO mad I didn't bring my good camera-- so the pictures are awful, but the show was just so awesome. Seriously every song was like some huge production. Loved it! The crew- My dad, Kyle, Candace and her friend Baylee, me and my mama. Loved this set! how cute is she? and how amazing is her stage? AMAZING! Thanks again dad!  and huge thanks to tyler who drove me my glasses so I could actually see the concert! =) True love right there... (2 days until marathon! AH!!)
