update on kids 1, 2, and 3

claire-bear is almost 2 1/2 months old!

Here's her stats:

Weight: 12 lbs 9 oz-- 88%
Height: 23 inches-- 73%
Head: 40 cm-- 79%

We love our little chunk!
She has been so much fun-- she has slept through the night off and on the last couple weeks--- I usually feed her at like 10:30ish, and some days she will sleep until like 8:30, but most of the time until about 6am-- but I'm not complaining at all! I'll take 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep gladly!!  Lucy didn't sleep through the night until she was like 4 months old- the positives of having a chunky baby! =)

She is such a wiggly baby! When she is awake she loves to be held, and likes sitting up and having attention. She is always looking around and loves to be held facing out so she can see what is going on. She has come to love her binky, and is a champ at sleeping in her car seat.
I just moved her up to size 2 diapers-- I decided I'm not going to wait for her to start having blow-outs to move her up to the next size of diapers. Learned my lesson on that one!
She is so laid back, and I'm seriously not sure how I have been so lucky with two great babies- everyone told me I had it coming with my second one, but she has been so good.
No she's not perfect by any means, but I have been so so lucky.
Honestly-- I think Heavenly Father knew I couldn't handle bad babies, I think my tolerance level is low and I would go crazy with no sleep. Truth be told.

She has starting smiling a few weeks ago, and has the biggest mouth/smile! we love it! She smiles all the time. She is also the champion nurser- she eats for like 3-5 minutes on each side-- so fast! She does spit up almost every time she eats, but it's not a ton, so I can't complain!

We have loved having little Clara in our family so far- she is so sweet, and I love having a baby in our house again. That being said- I want to wait until Lucy is in Kindergarten until I have another one! =)

Now to miss Lucy Jane--- She is now almost 2 1/2 years old!
She is so funny, and seriously has the biggest personality.
She is still so social, and would do anything to have someone be her friend.
She loves chasing kids at the park, and because she is following them she thinks they are playing, and it like makes her whole day! She LOVES playing with friends, and would give away all of her toys just to make her friends happy! She seriously would rather have her little friends be happy so they will like her- it's hilarious.

Her dressing up at grandma brock's house

Her 'swimming' at the fountains at gateway this last week- she really wouldn't touch the water, but she was convinced she was swimming! She is so silly.

She is the cutest big sister, and just LOVES baby Clara.
She always talks to Clara in her little baby voice, like Lucy is SO much older than her! =)
She always says in her little voice, "Hi C-ara! Hi C-ara! A-goo, A-goo" Over and over again, I'm sure she hears everyone else doing it to Clara all the time, so she wants to join in. She always gives her BIG hugs-- aka lays on her, and lots of sweet sweet kisses. And only occasionally tries to touch her eyes.... Haha.

She has her little 'jobs' and loves helping me throw away diapers, and loves give Clara her binky!

She is getting so much better at speaking and can repeat anything you say, her vocabulary has really widened in the last couple months, but she still goes on these rants where I have no idea what she is saying.

She still takes like a 2-3 hour nap everyday. Hallelujah! She LOVES her sleep, and now says all the time, "I'm tired mama".

OH- Big thing. She is officially off of her blanky! I thought the day would never come, but a couple weeks ago we lost one of her big main pieces of it, and then like a day later another main piece ripped in half. She was in a good mood that night as we were putting her down to bed, so I just told her that her blanky was all gone and that she could choose another one-- (we have this basket of like 50 baby blankets). So she chose this Huge fleece blanket of course, and went to sleep just fine! She now has been sleeping with  this purple baby blanket just on top of her, and has been doing so awesome. I was so shocked! She still loves her binky, but I am SO glad we are done with the blanky- even though it's kind of sad! I will always miss her smelling that little scrap and sleeping with it on her eye-- Haha.

Bitter sweet-- she likes me more now! Tyler is now working full time, and finishing school down at UVU one night a week, so she sees a lot more of me than him. She is still a HUGE daddy's girl, but is starting to want her mom over her dad sometimes. (It's building my self-esteem, Sorry Ty!)

She is the queen of throwing fits, and always stomps her feet, or like hits the wall. Who knows where she gets that from? Haha-- She really got all of her mother's best qualities. =)
ie: impatience and violence.  and of course being the center of attention.
Ok that sounds bad, like really awful, but I promise it's not- I just sometimes hit my brothers and sisters growing up, so they always told me I was going to beat my kids when I was a mom. No worries- I don't I promise!
and Lucy really doesn't hit other kids, just me! that cute girl....
But I am a very physical person, and like to go run or do something physical when I am mad and be left alone.
Lucy is the exact same way-- she likes to be left alone and has the most awesome angry face and throws the most awesome tantrums.

She truly loves to be the center of attention, and is so so cute.
Her hair is getting longer and I'm trying to learn how to do girls hair better! She has the most beautiful hazel-green eyes, with the longest dark eye lashes! So jealous!-- She gets that from her daddy!

She is so sensitive, and even when she does something bad and goes to time out I feel so bad because she just gets so sad and is like so hard on herself--
She loves to be held and cuddle, especially with her daddy.
She likes us to give her a hug on both sides when we put her in bed-- so funny.
She loves me to sing her the 'bird song'.
I sang her this song all the time when she was a baby, and just started singing it to her again and she loves it- the problem is she wants me to sing it like 100x before she goes to sleep and cries for me to sing it over and over! It's so cute thought, and i love when she wants me to sing, 'bird song'.

It's a primary song that was my grandma's favorite!
I think it's really called, Heavenly Father Loves me--- or something, I have no idea really
It goes:

whenever I hear the song of a bird,
or look at the blue, blue sky
whenever I feel the rain on my face
or the wind as it rushes by
whenever I touch a velvet rose,
I thank thee reverently.
I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heavenly Father created for me.

he gave me my eyes that i might see
the colors of butterfly wings,
he gave me my ears that I might hear
the magical sound of things,
he gave me my mind, my might, my heart
i thank him reverently
for all his creations of which i'm a part,
yes I know Heavenly Father loves me.

I was reading this family's blog the other day and I was thinking to myself how perfect their life seemed-- but then I thought well I never really write the negative and challenging things we go through on our blog either-- so just so you all know our life is far from perfect, but I am so happy with where we are in our lives right now.
I have just LOVED our ward we moved into- we had to speak 2 weeks ago, and blessed Clara last week, we still don't have callings, but in comparison to the last ward we were in in Orem, this ward has been so awesome. Our Bishop is amazing, and we have felt so welcome. I love it!
I LOVE living close to friends! We saw family still quite a bit when we lived in Orem, but I have loved being able to go walking with friends a couple times a week, and just having someone to hang out with and having kids for lucy to play with.
I honestly Love where we live, but I have a feeling it won't last long.
Tyler is graduating in a month, and there are not many jobs here in SLC--dangit!
Who knows where we will end up, but I have a feeling he will start interviewing out of state and that we will probably move.
It's bitter sweet- it would be fun to move to a new city and start a new adventure together, but I love having our family and friends so close, being in a good ward, And I truly do love Utah.
I know we'll end up where we are supposed to! So we'll see where the road takes us!

I'm so grateful to have Tyler- he has been working so hard the last few months and is beyond busy- I'm so excited for him to graduate and have him home again in the evenings!

i just love summer, and want it to last forever!

  1. Cute post, Carly! I'm glad I found your blog too! You're great at giving details of your girls and they will be worth so much later on. We were talking last night about how cute Lucy is. We should have her over to play sometime, especially since she wants so badly to please others. That would be good for our girls to see her sweet example!

  5. your little family is so cute! such cute girls! i love reading about your guys' adventures! thanks for letting me! :) I sing the same song to Gracey almost every night. I started singing it to her in the hospital when she was born and it's just stuck as a routine bedtime song. I love that she calls it the bird song though. that's adorable. good luck with the next month! i'm anxious to hear where you guys go, or move or what's in store for you four! it will be an adventure, and just like you said, you'll be where you need to be. I didn't want to move away from my family either. But South Carolina is not so bad. :) The church is here too, and the ward definitely tries to make itself your home away from home. Good luck wherever the roads take you! Thanks for letting me check out your blog!
