lights & ND

Friday night we were supposed to go down to Temple square with my family to see the lights... But we forgot it was the Tabernacle choir concert, so we decided to avoid the crowds, and get Mandarin take out... SOOO Yummy! And the men set up my parents new Ping-Pong table!

However... I still needed to see the lights! So Monday night we bundled up with our good friends Quin & Heidi, and headed downtown!

Here is Lucy all snuggled up in her cow hat, and her new cow-girl coat from Papa Crosland-- her Carhartt! She LOVES it. Thanks Papa!
(I should probably add.. the only reason Lucy and Tyler got these coats is because we're MOVING to North Dakota.... Yep. More on that Later!)

afterwards we whipped out our coca-motion for the first time in a couple years, and hung out at our apartment way too late, as usual!

Tonight, we got oh so lucky, and Grandma Bonnie and Papa Jeff planned a fun night going to see the Layton City Lights, having dinner, AND making doughnuts! Yum! I think I gained 5lbs in one sitting... seriously. Those things are deadly!
Don't you love our random assortment of winter clothes? We didn't know we were going to walk around, so we grabbed whatever random stuff we had in our car and at Grandma's house!
matching cowgirl coats... Love these two little girls.

these have got to be healthy right? =)

North Dakota explanation....
Tyler graduated in August, and had been looking for a 'real' job ever since... Well really ever since April- anywho. He has had a bunch of different job offers, but nothing just that great at all. All pretty much the same thing he was doing before-- well, Tyler's dad runs a construction temp agency in SLC, and long story short, one of his workers opened up basically a franchise of his company in North Dakota. Apparently they have found oil there and it's Booming! SO-- this guy has been flying from St. George to North Dakota basically every week to run these two offices out there and has been looking for a regional manager-- Hence Tyler. So, overall it's his dad's company, and yet nothing to do with his dad, but still good to know we're in good hands! (We hope!)
(This is a Carly explanation of the job. I'm sure Tyler could do a thousand times better, and that I got a few things wrong. Oh well...)
Tyler is going out in January for training and to find us an apartment.... Which might be tough. It's these tiny towns that have been overrun with oil workers, so rent is outrageously high, and there is really no where to live! Luckily our rent is covered as part of the job, so we're hoping to find something nice.
He has only committed for a year, so it should be a fun adventure for us. If for some reason we start making millions and love north dakota we'll stay longer, but if not, we'll be back in a year! It should be a good learning experience for us. I really feel like it will be a good thing, no matter how crazy it seems.

I never in my wildest dreams thought I would move to North Dakota... who does that!?
Anyway-- we'll all move out the beginning of February! So we'll keep you updated!
