Medora

This last weekend we were able to head down to Medora with some friends! Medora is like a fun little old-western town that has this outdoor musical, fun cowboy museums, etc... It's located right outside the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and that is considered the Badlands of North Dakota. It is gorgeous!
We headed out Friday afternoon, and since Tyler drives that way every week he took us the back 'short cut' way that goes through all the county roads, and it is beautiful! I'll have to do a separate post with all of the fun sunflower fields, etc.. We stopped for lunch at a little burger joint in the middle of no where, then the girls slept the rest of the way down to Dickinson. We stopped there, that's where Tyler works 2 days a week, it's about 3 hours away, to meet the people who work in the office down there, grabbed some things at Walmart, then made the last 20 minute drive to Medora. We had to hurry and set up camp! We had a few campsites between the 5 families that went, and we were packed in close! Haha, we then headed up to get our Pitchfork Fondue dinner!
We went with our friends the Noels, Jacobs, Wistisens, and the Woodlands
Jaymie, Violet, Ella Joy, and Jenny
The atmosphere was really fun, and the views were incredible, but with it being pretty chilly and windy, our food got cold pretty fast and it really wasn't worth the money spent!
I was so glad I grabbed the girls' hats last second! It was freezing!
I am aware that this it the most unflattering picture of me ever, but I had to get one with the incredible views!
Heather, cute Violet, Jaymie, me, and Jenny
Lucy, Carson, Ruby, Ju Ju, and Skye
The kids were in heaven running around all night, and the boys even found a frog! It was definitely a hit, and they all had so much fun taking turns holding it, and trying to put it down people's shirts! Haha
Me, Heather, Jaymie, Jenny, and Cody

 cutie Clara!
 Ivy
 Seth & Oliver
cute Jenny- our model practice is really paying off! Haha. Love you jen!
the kids all got to go up on stage at the beginning of the play, and got their very own Kaleidoscope!
the play itself was good, they sang a LOT of country songs, which I love, but some of the singers were pretty questionable. Haha... It also was SO cold! Luckily the girls were dressed warm enough, but it didn't start until 8:30, so we didn't get back to our tents until about midnight.
So I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but it was our first time taking the girls camping! All of my favorite memories from growing up are camping, so we are really going to need to change that! Tyler's parents gave us a bunch of awesome camping stuff one year for Christmas, we just don't have any sleeping bags up here, so we need to get the girls some and take ours from our parents houses, But Lucy slept awesome on the little bed we made for her on the ground with blankets. She slept in her awesome thermals she got from amy & luke, and her fleece pants and coat and said she was warm all night! Clara slept in her pack n' play all night all snuggled up in about 10 layers and her hat, and slept all night until like 6, so that's way better than I was thinking! (She usually has a warm bottle before bed, and early in the morning, and obviously we didn't have a microwave, so I was a little worried!) Tyler and I slept on the air mattress, but I was still freezing! I definitely needed more layers because I kept Tyler up all night trying to snuggle up next to him for warmth!

The Jacobs' and the Woodland's had to take off early Saturday morning, but the rest of us had a lazy morning packing up, eating breakfast, and letting the kids play and roast marshmallows!
Jaymie's kids are all so dang cute- here's Violet, Oliver, and Ruby. She's pregnant so I'm so glad one of my friends is having a baby so I can get my cute newborn fix!
Lucy in heaven playing so many friends....
We were kind of bummed we got such bad weather, but we bundled up and headed into town to see what we could do inside! They had a fun little museum scavenger hunt that you had to get so many different stamps from different museums, then you got a free ice cream cone!
We still had fun wandering around all over town!
It almost made me want to have an old western themed wedding, right here in North Dakota! Haha.
We stopped by a little Pizza place for lunch, then we grabbed some super awesome ice cream. Lucy chose Vanilla, and I got bubblegum. What's wrong with me? It was SO good though.
We ended the day but playing at their cool park that is somewhat like Castle Park in Fruit Heights, but set up like an old western town! It was awesome. The girls were having so much fun, but we decided to head home before it got too late!
It was such a fun trip! I'm hoping I can go stay with Tyler one night in Dickinson before the summer is over so I can take the girls to do more fun things like swim, mini golf, see the national park, etc... But I am still so glad we went!
