April Showers
OH April. You were exhausting. And you aren't even over yet! Haha- I don't mean to be such a kill-joy, because really anytime I get to spent with these cute humans is awesome, but sometimes I get tired, you know?
The day before I left for Disneyland I took Lucy to her first ever Dentist appointment. I know, I know... She's 5. But we've never had dental insurance, and her dad especially is super anal about brushing the girls teeth morning and night, etc... etc... But we found a HUGE cavity and called the Dentist the next day. We go in and paid $80 to tell us she needed to go to a Pediatric Dentist and they couldn't help us- awesome. Then Tyler took her to the Dentist while I was in CA. 14 cavities, one root canal, and one crown later.... AHHH! The Dentist really just said she has some naturally really soft teeth, every single one of her teeth overlaps each other, \ blah, blah, blah... thousands of dollars.... ahhhh.... anyway. We were put at the top of the waiting list for Dental Surgery. Yippee ki-yay. So naturally we took Clara in the next day for her first visit. $80 later, and all of her teeth (including the extra one) are all good. Maybe that's because her mouth is huge and none of her teeth even touch. Lucky duck.
and the Dentist visit went about how you would think a Dentist visit with Clara would go.... (insert crying laughing emoticon here....).... #welcomehomefromdisneylandmom
Oh I love this girl.
after all the Dental craziness Lucy had one of our kitchen bar stools fall on her toe! It happened Friday night and her toe stayed swollen, and she couldn't walk on it for over a week. She has since had her kindergarten check up where the doctor told us just to keep on eye on her walking on it, and how it grows, etc... but still. A full week! It was crazy. Poor girl!
I'm really trying to train for my half marathon in june.... super hard... it just keeps snowing... but i think i've gotten a few good runs in? Eek.
Clara's been playing with her bestie, Georgia. I can't get over how cute these two are together! I love them!
Lucy had 'Wacky Wednesday' at school. She had been talking all week about wearing her clothes backwards! That was all she wanted to do! I had to talk her into wearing two bows and two different shoes!
Playdates with friends- Juju was the gymnastics teacher. I was folding laundry. It all works.
and I started Whole30! Essentially it's 30 days of no grains, dairy, legumes, sugar..... I'll write more about it when I finish. But here's cutie Clara eating another Pepper. She's obsessed.
Lucy has two ballet classes on Friday with a 15 minute break in between. I just love watching all of her little friends have a snack break together. They are the cutest. Clara is asleep in the car 95% of the time. She falls asleep on the way there listening to primary songs. If she doesn't fall asleep she cries because Mr. Rinat shuts the door and she can't see the dancers! It's very dramatic. We all pray she falls asleep every Wednesday and Friday. Haha...
The girls with their cute friend Braxlee. I keep thinking the Frozen thing will wear off.....? Apparently not.
cute Candace at Prom. She also just made the BYU Cheer Squad! I'm so proud! I went dress shopping with her while I was in Utah and her dress is just gorgeous!!
We got rid of cable last month and I haven't really missed it at all. We have a connection for our iPad, but these two really have just been playing together non-stop! Every day I think of how grateful I am that they have each other! They really are each other's best friends. And drive each other crazy. But I love these little sisters!
Snow on April 16th. But look at those gorgeous snowflakes!
When there's country music on... Cowgirl boots and hat must go on.
and Lucy had her surgery! Check! She was on the waiting list, so we got a call Wednesday morning, took her in to get her physical Wed afternoon, then surgery Thursday afternoon. Ah! It was such a crazy week. (and I wasn't eating sugar.... #hangry) But we survived and she did SO good! She couldn't eat anything all day and her surgery wasn't until 1:30. She didn't even ask to eat until about 11, and we had to be at the hospital at 11:30. Phew! She was SO hilarious after she took her little 'relaxation drink'. Oh my gosh. I wish I would have had that on film. Think semi-drunken 5 year old. She was so slap happy and out of it! Tyler and I were both crying laughing... I just keep hearing her telling the nurse, who was trying to pick her up because she obviously wasn't in a state to walk... "I...I... have to tell you some-ping.... I...I... can walk... you know. You know I can walk...?" all slurred together. Oh geez. But all went well. She had SUCH a hard time waking up... What else is new? After sleeping for a solid 3 hours after the surgery she woke up good as new! She couldn't wait for me to bring her home ice-cream and was literally bouncing off the walls the next morning when she woke up!
Poor thing in the car. So swollen, numb, and sleepy still! Love her. So if you didn't know already, I don't do needles, and Tyler doesn't do blood. Lucy still had her IV when she came back into the recovery room (me shuddering... Ah!) and she kept waking up and trying to pull it out! Ah! She kept tensing up and making blood pump out of it. The nurse finally came in to take it out and you should have seen me and Tyler. Tyler was holding her, but looking the complete opposite direction, and I was in the chair totally turned the other way trying not to have an anxiety attack. Parents of the year! We are pretty awesome. Can't wait to have another baby! Haha!
Friday was Tyler's Birthday! 29! Clara was doing headstands on the couch at Ballet to celebrate. I love her.
We got a babysitter and had a fun night out with some of our friends. We went to Longhorn Steakhouse with Levi & Lindsay, and Celeste and would be Taylor. Haha... It was so nice to have a night out together. Lucy took this professional picture of us when we got home. I can't believe Tyler is 29! We're getting old! While I was in California my mom and I got Tyler some shorts, a couple tee shirts and this hat from Quicksilver. I was so excited to find this hat because he had just lost his other favorite hat, and knew he would like it. And Tyler is the WORST PERSON EVER TO SHOP FOR. LIKE EVER. Turns out that when I got home from CA he had our brother in law send him a hat... and of course Luke sent him like 8. So now he has 9 new hats.... Hahaha. Happy Birthday honey! Sure love ya!
Friday night Lucy put her pulled out tooth under her pillow in hopes that the tooth fairy might come! And come she did!
Lucy was SO excited. Dare I say the most excited I've ever seen her? Haha. The tooth fairy wrote her a tiny note and let her keep her tooth! She got a dollar and some sweet Donut pants to remind Lucy to keep an eye on her sweet tooth! Thank you, thank you tooth fairy! Lucy loves them!
We started some fun Easter activities! Grandma Carrie sent us a fun Easter package with an outfit for the girls, and some new Mickey-birthstone earrings, and of course lots of candy and eggs! Grandma Bonnie sent us the cutest Easter book and these fun Eggs that hatch into actual animals! The girls have been watching them very closely and cant wait until they are all hatched!
Tyler was working again Saturday so the girls and I colored Easter eggs in our sweats! They were both SO into it and were so good about helping me count to 30 to make sure the eggs stayed in the colors long enough!
That afternoon we had a fun swimming birthday party for our friend Gwen! She had the cutest Sofia the First party and the girls were in heaven! Her mom Tammy had become a good friend of mine, and her dad received the Medal of Honor this last year. So awesome! We love Gwen and had so much fun celebrating with her!
Lucy is becoming such a good swimmer and can swim all by herself under water! Which is an unusually long time! Haha. Now we just need to get her to come up for air!
I had to run some errands after the party and girls had SO much fun at Old Navy. We all looked a little homeless after swimming all afternoon, but they got bunny ears, stickers, and coloring and got to see the Easter bunny! Score! Such a fun day with these girls of mine.
In other news... Tyler is officially done with his job as of April 30th. He put in his notice about a month and a half ago, and I can't believe it's really almost over! It's been crazy because he didn't really have anything official when he decided to leave, but it was definitely time to move on. He has another job lined up with a company here in ND, but closer down to Dickinson- which is about 3 hrs from here. Things will be a little crazy, and we don't know exactly how everything will work out, but the plan for now is to put all of our stuff in storage up here, and have the girls and I move back to Utah for the summer, while Tyler lives down there in company housing. It's been a little chaotic, but I'm sure everything will work out for the best. It will be an interesting summer that's for sure! It's so weird- the thought of leaving Minot makes me want to bawl my eyes out, and I can't really think about it! I do want to move back to Utah and be closer to family, I really do, but I will just miss my friends here so so much. I still think we will move back here at the end of the summer, but you never know where life will take us! I sure don't anyway! We have been so blessed!
