Grandma LaRae

I sure love this family of mine.
Grandma LaRae's funeral and viewing were beautiful. It was so nice to be able to spend time with all of our family and to hear all of these fun stories about LaRae's childhood, and about Jeff's childhood with her and her mom. I only ever knew her in her older years, so it was great to hear all about the woman she was. I took some pictures for everyone, so there are definitely more pictures than a normal post, but I do love pictures that have our family in them. It's so nice to look back and be able to remember these special days.
Grandma Bonnie brought a special book for the kids to read all about death- as you can see, Lucy is the only one who made it to the end! Haha. But it really was a great opportunity to talk to the girls all about the plan of salvation. Before we went into the viewing we talked to the girls about spirits and bodies. We told them we were going to be seeing Grandma LaRae's body, but that her spirit had already gone up to heaven. Clara obviously was paying attention because we walked into the mortuary and she started looking around saying, very loudly of course, "WHERE'S THE BODY? I WANNA SEE THE BODY?" Of course I thought she was saying "Potty", but quickly realized... No, no... she wants to see 'the body'. Oh geez.... we like to keep things nice and reverent over here- obviously.
Cute baby Logan and Jessi with a longtime family friend- the Rigbys.
the kids made themselves right at home- kids at funerals are fun! or maybe just exhausting....
This was my favorite picture of LaRae. She had a pet deer when she was a little girl! Took care of it and everything! How cute is that?
a 'best friends' cheer of course! Love these girls!
our cute cousin Daisy- she's the sweetest.
The girls were only a little excited to see their Uncle Kevin! They just adore him!

Pallbearers were Jon Tenhoeve, Kevin, Tyler, and Ben Crosland, Stefan Brown, Luke Larsen, Sammy, and Joey Tenhoeve
Cutest grandparents. Lucy's pretty smitten by her Papa Jeff!
Lucy really does have such a sensitive spirit. She is so loving, and always gives a hug, or a smile right when you need one. Right after the family prayer we went up to say one last goodbye, and she said, "Look mom, She's so happy!" with just the biggest smile on her face. I know that she has no doubt in her mind that Grandma LaRae is up in heaven as happy as could be- and she is right! She also had lots of hugs for Papa that day. Lucy is just so sweet, and we are so lucky to have her!
Tyler was able to give the Dedicatory prayer. So grateful for an amazing husband who has always honored his priesthood.
 Kevin & Erin
I also have to add that Tyler's dad- Papa Jeff- is one of the most amazing men I know. He spoke at the funeral, and gave the most amazing talk about not only his sweet mother, but about her simple gift to just 'believe'. He talked about the power of the atonement among other things, and it was just awesome to hear such a pure testimony of the savior. A few members of Tyler's family/extended family haven't always made the best choices, and it was so great to hear that the atonement is real. I think we all need that reminder every once in a while. Right after Jeff spoke the four little girls sang, "Families Can be Together Forever"- Well, Lucy and Blake sang anyway! They did such a great job.
It's crazy that after not all being together for 5 years that Tyler's family could all be together twice in two months!
 Jeff's sister- Kathy's family.
cute Jon & Jen. We love them!
It was a beautiful funeral, and I'm so glad we all decided to go! Families truly are forever, and what a comforting wonderful thought that is. I am so thankful for our wonderful families!
