Bozeman
July 18th-20th we spent up in Bozeman, MT. We drive through there everytime we go back and forth between Utah and North Dakota and just love it. It's the most gorgeous little town, with a pretty amazing backdrop. We were looking for somewhere to meet up with Tyler, and Bozeman happened to be exactly half way between Kaysville and Dickinson, where he has been working. We took off Friday afternoon and had the best surprise on our drive there! Part of the drive between West Yellowstone and Bozeman is in Yellowstone National Park, and we happened to drive past a BEAR! I was so excited, so of course the girls were too! We pulled over and watched the bear from our car for about 30 minutes. It was pretty far away at first, as you can see, but it kept following the tree line and so kept getting closer and closer to the road. By the end it was probably only about 30 yards away. So cool. It was a huge grizzly bear! Or at least I'm pretty sure it was a grizzly. We kept getting ready to drive away and the bear just kept coming closer so we had to stay and watch it. It was pretty awesome!
We made it to Bozeman around 8:30ish and met Tyler for a late dinner at our favorite Pizza Place in Bismarck, Mackenzie River Pizza. I knew that the restaurant had started in Bozeman, so I was so excited to eat my favorite pizza there! The girls were only a little excited to see their dad!
We used the AirBNB app to find a place to stay in Downtown Bozeman. We ended up finding a whole basement apartment with 2 bedrooms right in downtown for half the price of a hotel room. Score! Our hostess also left us a note with lots of great recommendations on restaurants, etc...
Saturday morning we headed up Hyalite Canyon to Palisade Falls. It was a quick and easy hike and the view was gorgeous!
After we finished our hike we headed down to a little lake we passed. There were a bunch of people out paddle boarding and kayaking. I was wishing we would have brought Bonnie and Jeff's paddle boards! Next time...
The water was so clear and gorgeous!
We grabbed Great Harvest sandwiches on the way out of town and ate them up there. Afterwards the girls wanted to hike around the lake. We went pretty far! Lucy was pretty insistent that we just keep going! They're pretty good little hikers!
Clara fell asleep on the way back into town so we took our time, but took the stroller and walked back into downtown. We checked out a bunch of cute shops and decided on ice cream before dinner, of course!
Tyler and his eyebrows.... Sheesh!
We had dinner at the best restaurant- Montana Ale Works. I do love brewery food! Haha. But it was awesome. And literally across the street from where we were staying. From there we walked over the the park to wear the kids out before bed!
The next morning we 'checked out' and got ready to go! We headed back downtown for a delicious brunch! Chicken fried steak and stuffed french toast! Delicious!
We had about an hour to kill before church so we found another cute park to let the kids play at! They had a blast of course.
Afterwards we made it to church, Tyler in jeans and a T-shirt... there's a first time for everything! Haha. But we had a great sacrament meeting and then headed our separate ways. We're having a great summer, but leaving Tyler definitely is the worst part! Can't wait until we get to see him again soon! Thanks for the great time Bozeman!
